03.24.2010
He's over 2 months old now and getting a lot of attention. Naturally, he needs to have his own webpage so his cuteness and lovability can be shared with the world. New photos and videos will be added to this page as time goes by.
Baby Photos
01.14.2010
Well, after a long nine months, he's finally here. Zarni Maximilian Htein. January 14, 2010. 7 lbs and 10 ozs. 20 inches long. A healthy baby boy. Of course, lots of photos will be taken in the coming weeks and months, but here are some since the delivery.
Baby Shower / Housewarming Party
01.02.2010
After a long home buying process, we finally moved into the new house in October. A few buckets of paint and some new bits of furniture later, it was time to throw a housewarming party. With the baby's due date only a couple of months away, we also needed to have a baby shower. With the holiday season, it was tough scheduling a weekend that people were available to attend one, let alone two, parties. We ended up combined the two events right after the new year to welcome the new house and the new bundle of joy.
2009 Los Angeles International Auto Show
12.04.2009
The LA Internation Auto Show rolled back into town in early December. I saw some cool new cars in the press coverage for the foreign auto shows (Tokyo, Geneva), so I was looking forward to seeing those cars in person. Sadly, I was disappointed. Many cars I had hoped to see were missing and some manufacturers were missing all together. I am not sure why, perhaps the recession played a role. We had to make do with less cool cars and other attractive distractions.
Home Sweet Home  UPDATED - 1/11/10
06.11.2009
After many years of bouncing around the country following Sandy's education and work, things are starting to settle down for us. Taking advantage of this so-called housing slump, we purchased a home in Torrance, CA. Don't let the news stories fool you. In highly desirable areas of the country, people with money are buying up property, and it is not a buyer's market as we are led to believe. We had to beat out multiple offers to get our new home. Follow us from moving in to redecorating, which I'm sure will lead to more than a few arguments, to finally settling in to our new house.
The Mochi Chronicles  UPDATED - 9/26/09
07.07.2009
If you haven't heard already, Sandy and I are expecting our first child. We have been trying for awhile, so we are both pretty excited as are all of our family member. The delivery date is going to be around January 23, 2010. I will be chronicling everything baby related here in this continous photo journal entry from all the checkups and ultrasounds to birth and beyond. Mochi is the pet name we have given the kid, hence the title of the page.
2009 Las Vegas AFL Draft Trip
08.25.2009
Football season is almost upon us, and that means fantasy football season is almost upon us. Our league, the AFL, kicks off our fantasy football season with a trip to Las Vegas where we hold our fantasy football draft. This is our fourth year of having the draft in Las Vegas. We stayed in the Rio this year. Other highlights of the trip include a visit to Hoover Dam and watching Peepshow at Planet Hollywood.
Vehicular Revolution
08.16.2009
A rare occurence happened today. I bought a car. For those that know me and are familiar with my previous car, the choice I made might be somewhat surprising, but a lot changes happen to a person in the span of a decade. Anyway, I am excited at this new direction and with the new car. Rather than take some boring photos of the new car on the street or in the driveway, I opted for something a bit more exciting. I just wish the weather would have been a bit more cooperative.
Glacier National Park Trip
07.30.2009 - 08.03.2009
After hearing about other people's trips to Glacier National Park and how spectactular it was, Sandy and I decided that we should go and visit the park ourselves. We both love the outdoors, so were really excited about going. The trip almost did not happen. After we had planned the trip, we found out that Sandy was pregnant. We weren't sure if the morning sickness would be a problem or if she should be hiking long distances, but the doctor said everything would be fine, so off we went. Yee Yee, one of Sandy's friends, joined us on the trip.
2009 D1 Grand Prix - Anaheim
05.02.2009
Some of the guys headed over to Anaheim to check out some drifting action at the D1 GP. It was my first time at a D1 GP event, as they never came to Texas. We only got Formula D events. I was anxious to see all the Japanese drifting I watched in the various drifting videos. It was also my first import car event in Southern California, where the whole scene started, so I had big expectations from the drifting, the cars, and, of course, the girls.
Eagle Rock Hike
04.05.2009
The Eagle Rock/Springs trail is the Topanga State Park between Santa Monica and Malibu. The trail loop's biggest feature is Eagle Rock, a large rock formation on the hillside. The trail starts of pretty steep as you gain elevation to get to Eagle Rock to enjoy some fantastic views. The trail then loops back to Trippet Ranch, but there are other trails that connect to other parks in the surrounding area.
Switzer Falls/Bear Canyon Hike
03.29.2009
Switzer Falls is located in the Angeles National Forest. The hike follows a stream through the Arroyo Seco Canyons to Switzer Falls and continues to the Bear Canyon campsite. Like most canyon hikes, it's nice and cool, but you have to criss-cross the stream many times during the hike.
Big Bear Snowboarding Day
03.07.2009
The guys wanted to hit the slopes one more time before the snow melted. Since I was in Australia during their Mammoth trip, this outing was my first attempt at snowboarding. I expected it to be difficult, but it was more than that. The combination of awkward positions, cold, less than forgiving snowpack, and various bumps from the many, many falls made for a tough day on the slopes. But I had fun and will continue to snowboard (hopefully with much less falling.
Australia Trip 2009 - The Rest of the Trip
02.24.2009
The trips within the trip. We spent a few days in Victoria seeing Melbourne and the Victoria coastline, followed by a trip up to Cairns to see the Great Barrier Reef. They weren't long trips, but they were packed with activity from sunrise to late in the evening.
Australia Trip 2009 - The First Few Days
02.06.2009
After a few issues with the flight, the trip is underway. First few days is just relaxing and visiting relatives before the other trips within Australia. As such, this batch has lots of people and groups photos.
The Crabtrees Visit SoCal
01.17.2009
Chris and the family come down to Newport Beach for some relaxation before the new job. Since we missed Chris at this year's AFL draft, it was good to see him, and it was our first look at Emerson.
